Funny Kids Moments

So we’ve must’ve watched Spiderman 1 a trillion times. How are kiddies built that makes them able to watch the same cartoon/show/movie time after time after time after time….but they still scream in anticipation for you to put it on???

Anyway, this is the movie that Colton is into. He’s never been into the kiddie cartoons. From the day he saw a “superhero”…that was it. Seriously, boys are boys. They just know somehow. It’s cool to them. He is not interested in stuffed toys. He can be amused with trucks and cars, but only for a while. His fascination is centered towards superheros and guns. Every time it comes on TV, I hear a scream of  “Colton wants that! Colton has that!” Yes…he talks about himself in the third person. :)

I tell you. I am so sick of Spiderman 1 (which I have on DVD). I’ve let him watch movies like Jurassic Park and stuff when it’s on TV. For some reason, he’s able to understand in some way that it’s not really real. He doesn’t have nightmares watching these shows. One day I was flipping and the movie Deep Blue Sea was on. Myk was practically crying when the huge shark attacked the man. But Colton was upset that I turned the channel and was protesting: “Hey!!! I want watch THAT!!!” However, the scene was where the shark bit OFF the man’s arm, who is then screaming in incredible pain. And so yeah…I didn’t let them continue watching that. It was pretty detailed.

Anyway, how do I get “off topic” like that? Anyway, since he is that young…not even 3 yet…I do purposesly forward 2 parts in the movie. When Spiderman wrestles in the ring. I don’t need Colton to learn about this “wrestling” thing. He’s already jumping off the couch like he can fly. The second part is the scene where Spiderman and Mary-Jane have that long kiss. He does mouth-peck-kiss me and my family (like when he says “bye’), but I don’t need him to think that these kind of kisses are normal kissing. You never know how they would take it, you know?

I put this movie on in the morning as I get ready, and when we get home from work/daycare. It’s seriously the only movie that he will sit still for. So in the mornings I put it on while I wash my hair and get ready. So I blow dry my hair, and when I turn the dryer off, I hear:

MYK: OMG! Ewwww! They’re kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-ssing!

COLTON: Yeah! Ewwwww! Mommy! Mommy! They’re kissing!

  • You see, when these two scenes come on, he knows I don’t like it. So he usually will scream at me to tell me it’s on and for me to forward it.

MYK: That’s a BAD thing!

There’s this momentary pause and then…

COLT: That’s not a BAD thing! That’s a GOOD thing!
